Hi! I’m Kayla!
I didn’t always have a lot of free time, I didn’t always make a lot of money - but I have always wanted to help a lot of people.
My first career was an elementary school teacher, and after earning two undergraduate degrees I started out making $36,000 a year. After ten years I had increased my salary to about $65,000/year after getting a third degree and adding on side jobs. On top of my full time classroom role I became a teacher trainer, worked adjunct at the state university, wrote science curriculum that was used in the four largest school districts in my state. And that doesn’t even count all of the summer work that I did.
I didn’t realize until after I left teaching how much I was actually working or how underpaid I was. The burnout didn’t hit me because the feeling of the impact I was making was so great.
But when I left and created my own business - I doubled my salary (my first year was 96k and after that 120k). And not only did I double my salary but I cut the hours I worked down by 80%! I went from working 50-60 hours to 10 max.
I was able to still create a great impact in others lives but the difference was that I was able to create a great impact in my own life too.
And while I’m creating this impact for others I have have the flexibility to go with my husband on his work trips, take weeks off to go to Italy, just plain travel more than 12 times a year! Run whenever I want and drink wine and read books on my balcony by 2pm everyday!
I get to make five figure donations to organizations that I care about which creates an impact inception of the levels of impact I can make!
Now I’m living in New York City, with a skyline view and this year I am planning to use my free time to work on my YA fantasy series based on getting out of my childhood of poverty and work on my 5 year plan of building an Interactive Children’s Library for underprivileged kids.
My life is completely different, I get to have so much fun and see so many things, my impact not only continues - but gets to spread on deeper levels.
